AGING IN PLACE
It was with great interest that I read
your timely article “The Art of Staying
Put” (July/August 2019). Thankfully, it
confirmed that I’m on the right track
for an octogenarian who plans to live
at home for as long as possible. Simi-
larly, a recent news story about a North
York, Ont., “playground for seniors”
piqued my interest. My compliments
to whoever came up with this excellent
idea, because it could be the answer to
many problems faced by seniors who
are concerned that they are not getting
enough exercise, feel they are isolated
or are coping with depression.
—MARJORIE SONNE, Port Credit, Ont.

A PREVENTABLE DEATH
I was almost in tears and very angry
when I read “How Could Anyone Have
Missed This?” (July/August 2019).
How could the writer’s sister Becky
have her cervical cancer go undiag-
nosed for so long? She didn’t need to
die like that. We need more diligent
treatment when something is wrong.
Becky and her family had a right to
know why her original doctor’s licence
was suspended. I sure hope he didn’t
get it back! Kudos to the family for
continuing to advocate for the rights
of other patients.
