Finance and
Trade Centre
Karachi
1989

Planned around a network
of courtyards landscaped
with fountains and
vegetation, the Finance
and Trade Centre used
ancient methods of
cooling spaces to minimise
the use of air conditioning.
Developed in consultation
with the Canadian
architect Eva Vecsei, open
corridors (right) link the
blocks, channelling cool
breezes deep into the
building's plan.
