Reruns of “The Office” are out there, just like
reruns of “Friends,” taking advantage of the phe-
nomenal nostalgic interest in the show. OK, so the
series ended only six years ago; it feels like forev-
er, doesn’t it?
Now comes news that Jenna Fischer, who
played Pam, and Angela Kinsey, who played Ange-
la, will be hosting a podcast about their show.
Called “Office Ladies,” the weekly podcast will fea-
ture the pair breaking down episodes and telling

behind-the-scenes stories. “Office Ladies” will

premiere Oct. 16 on the Earwolf podcasting net-

work.

“As we close in on the 15th anniversary of the

show, it seemed like a great time to share our sto-

ries and behind-the-scenes trivia with fans,” Fis-

cher said in a statement. “Besides talking about

‘The Office,’ you can also hear us chat a little about

our lives, our Target runs together, our friendship

through the years.”

Q.I’m 27 and started my first serious rela-

tionship seven months ago. We became se-

rious quickly (exclusive on our second date)

and kind of skipped over the honeymoon

period. We didn’t want to waste time put-

ting only our best foot forward. It didn’t feel

real or worth it to us.

I’ve known that I loved him since we

were four months into the relationship and

am aching to tell him. My fear is that if I say

it first and he says it back right away, I’ll for-

ever convince myself that he only said it to

be polite. But if I say it and he doesn’t re-

turn the sentiment, I’ll be so mortified.

It was recently his birthday and I had de-

cided to say it. Then I chickened out think-

ing that if he didn’t say it back, it would ru-

in his birthday. It hurts not saying it, and I

want to move our relationship forward.

What do I do? Should I just jump in and

risk it? Or should I wait for him to say it

first? Is my fear a sign that things aren’t

right?

A.If you feel it, say it. I mean, you were ex-

clusive on your second date. I don’t think

this guy is going to be surprised to hear

you’re excited about the relationship.

At seven months, that’s one of the things

“I love you” can mean. It can be a way to

say, “I want more and more of you.”

In fact, it might be helpful for you to ex-

plain what you mean when you say it. Some

people get stressed about “I love you” be-

cause they believe it comes with a promise.

We’ve had letter writers say they connect

the sentiment to a lifelong commitment;

some people won’t say it until marriage is

on the table.

It is sort of a vague idea, so it can be

helpful to clarify. What does it mean to you?

If he doesn’t say it back, that’s OK. Real-

ly. It’s just something for him to know and

to think about (and enjoy). You and this

boyfriend do not have to be on the same

schedule for feelings. You don’t have to fall

in love at the exact same moment. If he

doesn’t reciprocate, it doesn’t mean the

whole thing is doomed. You can’t coordi-

nate these steps. They involve some pa-

tience.

It sounds like you are spending a lot of

time defining your relationship and being

in it based on what you think should hap-

pen. Mapping out exclusivity and agreeing

to skip the honeymoon period on your sec-

ond date doesn’t sound fun. Try being in

your relationship by experiencing it.

pick a specific time — especially since it

seems to be stressing you out so much. Why

not just say it when it feels right? For the re-

cord, I’ve learned it’s far more important to

SHOW someone you love them. Too many

people say it and don’t really mean it.

Showing it and feeling it are more impor-

tant to me.

^For what it’s worth: My wife and I don’t

say “I love you” at the end of every phone

call, or every conversation, or the end of ev-

ery day. To us that makes it routine and

cheapens it. When you feel it, say it. Pretty

simple.

I used to feel the same way, but saying

something all the time doesn’t cheapen the

sentiment at all. It also kinda contradicts,

“When you feel it, say it,” because love is

continuous. I mean... do you only eat

three strips of bacon today because you

might not enjoy it as much tomorrow? Ab-

solutely not; you eat the whole pound.
