Stitcher’s guide

Our heartwarming

hibernating animals are

stitched onto 14-count

white aida using 19

different colours of

stranded cotton. Worked

in whole cross stitches

and backstitch only, these

make ideal projects for

new stitchers. Each one

will take around 20 hours

to complete, so they're

perfect for winter evening

stitching sessions.

Unconcerned about the cold, these

adorable furry creatures settle down for

their extended winter's nap!

1

Find the centre of your

fabric by folding it in half

both horizontally and vertically.

Follow the arrows on the chart

to find its centre and start

stitching from here, in the

centre of the fabric, working

your way outwards.

2

Complete all the cross stitch

using two strands of cotton.

This project uses threads in 19

different colours, so check the

key as you stitch to make sure

you are working correctly.

3

Work the backstitch next –

backstitch is worked in one

strand of dark grey cotton.

4

When you have completed

all the backstitch, then

carefully check over your

finished stitching and prepare it

for mounting into a hoop.
