Stitcher’s guide
Our stained glass designs
are stitched onto 14-count
white aida using 20 different
colours of stranded cotton.
These charts contain whole
cross stitch and fractionals
in two strands of cotton and
backstitch in one strand. Each
design will take between
4-6 hours to create, making
them ideal festive projects for
stitchers of all abilities.

1
Find the centre of your fabric
by folding it in half both
horizontally and vertically. The
centre of the fabric is where the
two fold lines meet and form
a cross in the aida. Follow the
arrows on the chart to find its
centre and start stitching from
here, in the centre of the fabric,
working your way outwards.
2
Complete all the cross stitch
and the fractional stitches
using two strands of cotton.
Check the key as you go to make
sure you are working correctly.
3
Work the backstitch next –
backstitch is worked in one
strand of black cotton for this
project, so check the key as
you stitch to make sure you are
working correctly.
4
Once you have completed all
the cross stitch and backstitch,
then you should carefully check
over your finished stitching and
prepare it for making up.
