Kawaii motifs
Stitcher’s guide
Our humorous Kawaii
motifs are stitched onto
14-count white aida.
There are 17 different
colours of stranded
cotton used to create
the motifs in this
section. They all contain
whole cross stitch and
backstitch only, making
them ideal projects for
all stitchers, including
complete beginners.
Raise a smile or two this Christmas
with these adorable designs, inspired
by Japan's distinct style of cuteness!

1
Find the centre of your
fabric by folding it in
half both horizontally and
vertically. The centre point
is where the fold lines meet
and form a cross on the
fabric. Find the centre of the
chart you wish to stitch and
start stitching from here,
in the centre of the fabric,
working your way outwards.
2
Complete all the cross
stitch using two strands
of cotton. Seventeen different
colours of cotton are used to
create these motifs, so check
the key to make sure you are
always working correctly.
3
Work the backstitch next
- backstitch is worked
in one strand of cotton, and
nine different colours are
used, so check the key as you
stitch to make sure you are
working correctly.
4
Check over your finished
stitching and then
prepare it for making up.
