Stitcher’s guide

These folk-art designs are

stitched onto 14-count

black aida using 17

different colours of

stranded cotton. They are

worked in whole cross

stitch and backstitch only,

and each one will take

around 8-10 hours to

complete, which we think

makes them ideal for

stitchers of all abilities.

Holiday jolliness should come in every

colour – stitch these bright folk-inspired

wall hangings to jazz up your decorations

1

Find the centre of your

fabric by folding it in half

both horizontally and vertically.

Follow the arrows on the chart

to find its centre and start

stitching from here, in the

centre of the fabric, working

your way outwards.

2

Complete all the cross stitch

using two strands of cotton.

Seventeen different colours

of thread are used in these

designs, so check the key as

you stitch to make sure you are

working correctly.

3

Work the backstitch next

using one strand of cotton.

4

Once you have completed

the backstitch, then carefully

check over your finished

stitching and prepare it for

making into wall hangings.
