Flamengo are most likely to stand in their way again with
the two sides favourites to meet in the tournament final on
Saturday 21 December.
After a year that has seen him become a European gold
medalist with his club and a Copa America champion with his
country, Bobby admits it would be the perfect way to round
off his 2019 by becoming a world champion with Liverpool.
He has had depictions of both those other two trophies
etched onto his back and would love another appointment
with his tattoo artist to complete the hat-trick soon!
“I knew this question was coming! At the time they were
the first two trophies of my career and I was so happy to have
won them. The Champions League and the Copa America
with the Brazilian national team are two very important
tournaments together with the World Cup and I had to mark
these achievements, not just in my memory but also on my
skin.
“We know that Flamengo are in great form, led by their
manager, Jorge Jesus. They’re a mature team with top-level
players. Flamengo would be special, of course, as they’re a
Brazilian team, but we’ll do our best. It would be a cup final
and of course we want to win the trophy but we have to win
the semi-final first.
“I always want to be there competing and contributing
wherever we can to win trophies.”
And, as he looks ahead to a bright future calling the tune
with a Liverpool team that seems to be getting better all the
time, Firmino says: “I always want more. I have big goals and I
want to keep winning titles with this club. And that is it.”
