Naby Keita Guinea
The Africa Cup of Nations was a disappointment
for Naby who was named in the squad despite
struggling to overcome the injury that had kept
him out of the Champions League inal. He made
two appearances in the groups but played no part
in the 3-0 defeat to Algeria in the round of 16. He
was back for the opening AFCON 2021 qualiier
against Mali, scoring in a 2-2 draw in Bamako.


Sadio Mane Senegal
Sadio’s bid to win the Champions League and
Africa Cup of Nations within seven weeks fell at
the inal hurdle. Senegal reached the inal in Cairo
but were beaten 1-0 by Algeria.
He netted three times in the tournament,
inishing joint runner-up behind Golden Boot
winner Odion Ighalo of Nigeria.

Mo Salah Egypt
Playing in a home Africa Cup of Nations was a
highlight for Mo but his Pharaohs were unable
to make it beyond the last 16, losing 1-0 to
South Africa in Cairo. He scored in two of the
three group-stage victories, over DR Congo and
Uganda, taking his tally for his
country to 41 in 67 games.

Chamberlain, Joe Gomez
England
Reds skipper Jordan played in England’s irst
six Euro 2020 qualiiers before missing the last
two due to illness, while Trent (three apps), Ox
(two and one as sub) and Joe (one as sub) also
appeared in the campaign as the Three Lions
won seven of eight games. Oxlade-Chamberlain
was on target in the 7-0 win over Montenegro at
Wembley last month.
Jordan, Trent and Joe also featured in the
UEFA Nations League inals as England claimed
third place following their shoot-out win over
Switzerland in the play-of.
