in all the best ways and with high standards.
One of my major goals when I arrived was that I needed to know
the Academy staf as well as I know the Melwood staf, especially
Alex and the coaches that are responsible for the training sessions.
These kind of relationships are already really good, and more
than talking, it’s about creating an environment of trust and an
environment that can help everyone – especially, in the end, the
players.It is a great opportunity for the Academy players when they have
the chance to train at Melwood...
It is amazing when a young player can come here and have a
training session with the likes of Hendo, Roberto, Mo and Sadio.
In the exercise room, during a counter-pressing run, in a ive-a-
side game, he can see how they move, how they train, how they
work to create space, how they press... These kind of moments are
unbelievable for a youth player. Working with the irst team helps
the player reach the next step in their development.
