Next, typeacommand with thepath tothevlc.exefile,^1
the names of allthe filesyou want tojoin^2 andacouple
of additional commandsincluding thename of thefinal

exe” 1.mp42.mp4 3.mp4 --sout “#gather:std{acce
ss=file,dst=join.mp4}” --sout-keep

VLCopens andjoins the filestogether.The processis
carried out discreetly,soyou won’t see anythingappear
on thescreen.^1 Younowhave to shut VLCdownagain
beforethe newfile(in ourcase,called ‘join’) is properly
finished.Ifyou lookat it beforeclosing VLC, itwillappearto be
an empty file.^2

Thefile’s thumbnail appears.^1 Youcan reopenVLCand
play the video as normal.^2 If youwantto makeany
changesto the file,such as adding moreclips, makesure
yourename theoutput filein Step 6, so it doesn’toverwrite
your existing file.

tab.^1 Here, we’vechosenaSepia tint.^2 The
Essential tab^3 has subtlercolour changes, Geometry^4 lets
yourotate the video and Overlay^5 can insertalogoortext.

Youmay feel your video isabit boring anddecideto
spiceitupwithafewvideo effects. Ifyoudothis asyou
record your clipsin Steps2and 3, youcan insert them
intoyour finished production. Clickthe ‘Showextended
settings’ button^1 and clickthe VideoEffects tab.^2
