Speed upAndroidQ
My Android phone isonly acoupleof
yearsold butit’sbecome very slow
of late.Switching oropening appstakes
an age,and closingaweb page even
longer.I’mnot oneoft hose ‘powerusers’,
but it’sdriving metodistraction. Hasthis
happened because it’snowconsidered
an old phone?Surely Google can fix this.
Todd Churchill,via emailAIt’spossible thatyour hardwareis
outof datebut another reasonfora
sluggishAndroidis thatthe phonehas
been usedalotandbecome cluttered
with data andapps
thatslowitdown.
Start byuninstalling
anyapps youdon’t
use andreplacing
large apps such as
Facebook with
lightweight versions.
Then, open Google’s
Filesapp anddelete
junk data. You could
also try turning off
animations using
‘Developer options’.
Toforce‘Developer
options’ toappear,go
to Settings,System,
then About. Findyour phone’sbuild
number and tap it seventimes. Now, go
back to Settings–nearthe bottom,you’ll
find ‘Developeroptions ’within which
thereisanoption called ‘Transition
animation scale’. Select‘Animation off’
and see ifyour phone is anyspeedier.

John Shambrook, via emailAThetwo mostcommonreasons why
you’reseeing this messageare your
group policysettings andinterference
from antivirussoftware. If it ’s the latter,
justcheck thatWindows Defenderis
enabled inyour group policies.Tamper
Protection is part of theWindows
Defendersettings, and different antivirus
tools don’t always playwell together. When using anything exceptDefender,
uninstall ortemporarily disable it, then
switch on thesetting.
If you’restill seeing the message,try
againusingthe hiddenadmin account.
OpenCommand Prompt inAdmin Mode.
Enternet useradministrator

account active.Signout of your usual
account and intothis one, then tryto
changeyour TamperProtectionsettings.
