Alwayscheck yourSpam
folder
Iwas interested toread your ‘Blockspam
messagesand callsforever’featurein
Issue 486, butIwas surprisedyou didn’t
mentionhowtodeal with so-called ‘false
positives’ –when perfectlyharmlessand
sometimesimportant messagesare
wrongly classified asspambyyouremail
provider and
filtered intoyour
Spam folder
without ever
reaching your
Inbox.
Ihaveoften
had emailsthatfailtomaterialise,despite
the sender insistingtheyhavebeen sent.
Oncheckingmy Spamfolder in Gmail,lo
and behold theyare there, completewith
awarningacross thetop.Clicking
‘Report as not spam’restores the
messagetoi ts rightful place in my Inbox.
Iwould recommendthateveryone
checks their Spamfolder regularly,
becauseyoudon’tknowwhatmessages
youmay have missed. Gmailgenerally
does avery good job of identifying
which emails arejunk and which aren’t,
but it doesn’t always get it right.
