SNACKS

Not all of them are bad guys.

● No matter how
dedicated you are
to your training
and nutrition plan,
sometimes you just
need a snack, you
know? But you don’t
have to resort to
fluoro orange chips
or sugary chocolate
bars to smash that
craving – there are
snacks-a-plenty
out there for a man
who wants to treat
his tastebuds but
not blow out his
calorie budget. So
where do you find
these saintly tidbits?
No need to trawl
through the aisles,
dear reader. To save
you time, we’ve
hunted down some
of the best low-
calorie packaged

snacks currently
available. They’re
all good sources of
protein and fibre,
are low in sugar
and high in flavour.
Plus they come in
sensible portion
sizes, so you won’t
find yourself going
batshit crazy and
eating a truckload.
We always keep a
selection of these to
hand at the MF office
to appease us when
we’re peckish. Stash
some in your desk
drawer or gym bag
and you’ll always
have a healthy
option available for
when hunger strikes
and dinner is still
four hours away.
All the flavour, and
none of the guilt.

GRAB SOME NUTS

As well as being a good
source of fibre and protein,
nuts contain B vitamins and
vitamin E, as well as key
minerals. And don’t fear the
fat content – it’s the healthy
kind, which your body needs.

ON THE BALL

Body Science
High Protein Balls

● Many of the protein
balls you find in
supermarkets and at
cafés tend to be super
high in fat and sugar. Not
these ones. They’re high
in protein (20g a bag),
but low in carbs and
sugar. Plus they’re totally
delicious, and ideal as a
sweet treat or pick-me-
up when 3pm hits.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

Happy Snacks

● Chickpeas and fava
beans are both great
sources of protein and
fibre. When you roast
them, they also make a
delicious snack. Happy
Snacks offers both in
a variety of lightly salted
or seasoned blends.
Crispy and crunchy, and
low in calories, too. Plus
nothing nasty added.

Nutrition Choc
Coated Nuts
● Nuts are a great
source of protein,
but cover them with
chocolate and they can
lose that saintly glow.
ON have used cocoa
butter plus WPI and
cocoa mass to make a
high-protein, low-sugar
choc coating. Genius.
