annoying that you can’t see the mechanics of
the Applet before you click the Connect
button. However,hopefully our simple
walkthrough gives you asolid understanding
of how these Applets should work and why
you’ll need to give IFTTT permissions to
access various accounts. Forexample,say
you want to use the ‘Add your latest iPhone
screenshots to aDropbox folder’, you first
need to click the Connect button, connect
your Dropbox account and only then click
on the Settings lozenge (near the topright)
to see what the Applet really does. You’ll
then need to install the IFTTT app (free for
Android and iOS) on your phone.
THE IFTTT PLATFORM
The standard IFTTT Applet only allows one
trigger and one action, which can be limiting.
If you want to fire off aload of actions,
you’ll need to delve intodeveloper mode,
otherwise known as the IFTTT Platform.
Head toplatform.ifttt.com(or click the
large lozenge at the bottom of any IFTTT
web page). You’ll be invited to createa
company name,which can be ausername
or just your actual name.
You’re automatically taken to the Service
tab of the Platform. At aminimum, fill out
the Service name (essentially your username)
