A

cross the
UK there
are thousands
of young
people acting
as a carer for
family and friends – it’s estimated
it may be as many as one in five
secondary-age children. Caring for
someone can have a huge mental and physical strain on
a young person, which is why on 30 January the Carers
Trust is holding its annual Young Carers Awareness
Day. This is to highlight the challenges faced by young
carers and to campaign for more support from both the
government and the public. You’ll find lots of amazing
resources on the Carers Trust website about ways you
can get involved and join in. Start by logging onto social
media and using the hashtag #youngcarersawarenessday.
