Project Rainy Day Bear

Join this adorable bear and his duck pal as they set

off on a joyful, watery adventure together!

ll aboard! This fuzzy little bear

and his equally fluffy-duck

friend have found a better use

for their umbrella, and intend to set

sail in their new boat – just as soon as

they can get out of this puddle...

With a stitch time of around 45

hours, a varied colour palette of over

30 thread shades and whole cross

stitch, half cross stitch and backstitch,

this is a project that skilled stitchers

will really relish and enjoy. The feel

of the original watercolour painting

is cleverly captured with a delicate

use of shading in the foreground and

careful placement of backstitch in

both one and two strands.

A wooden frame allows the

bright shades used in the design to

really shine, as well as complementing

the brown of the bear’s fur and

umbrella handle. The candy colours

and adorable animals mean that this

project would make a wonderful

gift for a little one, bringing fun and

friendship to their bedroom wall!

I’m thrilled that my watercolour artworks

translate so well into cross stitch. My inspiration

here was to create characters that appeal to

young people, and to hopefully spread a

little joy and laughter.
