Q

I am looking for the charts for the first catalogue of jewelled
eggs from your magazine. Is this still available, and if so how
do I go about getting a copy?
Carlotta Collums, via email

A

Katriel: The design that you’re looking for is ‘Jewelled Egg
Sampler’ by Carol Thornton, which was featured in The
World of Cross Stitching issue 110. This is a rather old issue I’m
afraid, dating all the way back to 2006, so unfortunately it’s not
available to buy as a back issue or even to download digitally –
we only started making copies available from 2011. You could,
however, ask fellow stitchers on our Facebook page if they have a
spare copy they can post to you, or see if you can buy an old
copy from someone on eBay or Facebook Marketplace. If you do
this, then please check first that the seller is reputable by
checking their rating and reviews. I wish you lots of luck with
your search, as it’s a beautiful design!

Q
Are there any small horse
racing patterns available?
My grandad likes going to the
races and it would be a good
birthday card for him. I find it
so hard to find men’s patterns
though, especially ones that
fit on cards!

Hannah: It can be tricky
to find that perfect
design and size for what you
want, and I agree even more
so when you’re planning a
project for a man. Check out
Lucie Heaton’s* fabulous Motif
Library though, which features
lots of mini designs in a huge
range of themes, including this
‘Racehorse’ (MLRH17) costing
just £1 for an instant
downloaded pattern. This
quick and easy design has a
stitched size of approximately
7x7cm (3x3in), making it just
right for your grandad’s
birthday card. You could even
change the horse or jockey’s
colours to match those of your
grandad’s favourites, for an
extra personal touch on his
birthday card. I’m sure he’ll
absolutely love it!
