Project Biscornu Pincushions
DESIGNED BY FABY REILLY
These biscornus may be small, but they’re certainly mighty
as they’re embellished with six different embroidery stitches
A
pincushion is a very handy item
for a stitcher to have, keeping
pins and needles safely stowed
and ready to be used for your next
project. If you’re looking to update
yours, or make one for a crafty friend,
here are four beautiful designs that
will look good in any sewing box!
Faby’s quartet of designs have
a fresh colour palette of blues and
pinks, including DMC Color Variations
thread, for depth of shade. And
fittingly for a Stitcher’s Challenge,
these pretty projects will test your
skills with their use of satin stitch,
spider web stitch and Rhodes
butterfly stitch alongside cross stitch,
backstitch, French knots and seed
beads, to create texture and interest.
You’ll find full instructions on how
to complete each of these unique
stitches on page 43. The hardest
thing will actually be deciding which
biscornu to stitch first!
Miniature
masterpiece
Biscornu are my favourite items to
design, and being able to use different
embroidery stitches in addition to cross
stitch and backstitch meant that I could
really let my imagination soar!
