Biscornu Pincushions Project

4 Here is how your finished
satin stitch should look on
your biscornu design.

3 Repeat the process
to make additional stitches
to fill the ‘block’. Then
repeat this for each ‘block’,
facing different directions as
indicated by the chart.

2 Bring the needle up
through the fabric on the
side of the shape where you
started and go back down on
the opposite side again.

1 Bring the needle up
through the fabric at your
starting point, then back
again on the opposite side
of the shape you are filling.

2 Complete the vertical
stitch down the middle last to
hide the central hole. Here’s
how your finished Rhodes
butterfly stitch should look on
your design.

1 To start, bring your
needle up at (1), down at (2),
back up at (3) and then down
at (4). Following the chart,
work your way clockwise to
create a butterfly shape.

4 Here is how your finished
spider web stitch should look
on your design.

3 Stitch the ‘web’ by
weaving the needle through
the branches of the star shape
(above, under, above, under,
etc.) until the whole star is
covered by the woven web.

2 Bring up the needle in
the centre of the star shape.
(We’ve used two colours here
to show the steps clearly,
but the whole stitch should be
completed using one colour.)

1 Stitch the star shape
(with an odd number of arms)
that will hold the finished
stitch in place. We have
stitched five arms here in blue.
