Project Cuckoo Clock

DESIGNED BY FIONA BAKER

This charming cuckoo clock will bring a delightful

forest feeling into the heart of your home

stitch!

T

he cuckoo clock is a classic
souvenir of travel to Alpine
countries, but with Fiona’s clever
chart there’s no need to travel abroad
to get your own – you can simply
stitch one instead!
Cuckoo clocks traditionally take
the shape of a chalet decorated
with plants and animals, and Fiona
has drawn on this for her version.
Featuring a host of woodland flora
and fauna, such as deer, fir trees and
toadstools, this keepsake treasure is
created using cross stitch, fractional
stitches and backstitch. And, of
course, you’ll find a cuckoo popping
out of a tiny door at the top!
Best of all, once you’ve completed
the design, your stitched clock can

become a real timepiece by adding
clock hands. Turn to page 66 to
find out how to mount your design
onto canvas and attach the clock
mechanism. Whether a beginner or
experienced stitcher, you’ll enjoy every
second of this fun project!

I love creating more unusual designs and
making my own cuckoo clock was definitely
something a bit different! I wanted to create
an antique feel to the design, so it can be
something that’s treasured forever.
