Step 29.
When you have the right length to wrap
around the cake, trim to the height
needed and fix the horizontal and vertical
strips at the edge with a light touch of
glue. Secure the right edge with another
white strip.

Step 30.
Mark where to secure and join the woven
paper. It’s possible to join seamlessly
using the method above, but you don’t
have to!

Step 31.
Having measured exactly where the ends
meet, cut the white securing strip of
wafer paper from the end edges.

Step 32.
Lightly glue the sugarpaste where the
woven paper will attach from the top to
the bottom in a strip of about 2” on each
side. Press carefully to attach.

Step 33.
Taking the dried ‘hair’, attach to the top
of the cake. Use glue and if preferred,
break the hard points off the paper and
discard.

Step 34.
Position the coloured ‘hair’ where you
like best and lightly glue the pieces
together for added stability.

Step 35.
Take the dried bow tie and glue into
position on the front of the 4” round top
tier.

Step 36.
Taking the dried glasses frame, run the
tip of the Calligra pen over the inside and
outside edges to add definition.

Step 37.
Add the frames to the top edge of the top
tier with a little glue and some pressure.
And suddenly, this little cake has come
to life!
