TEXTURE
Texture ranges from rough to smooth. Roughness creates
animation and energy. Areas of smoothness can provide
resting places for the eye.
The words we use to describe texture-soft, hard, creamy,
jagged, uneven, bumpy- carry emotional connotations.

modeling paste, oil pastel,
acrylic on canvas.
The organic character of
the final painting relies
on the texture. Oil pastels
were used to may,e the
rings, which wind their
way through the painting,
creating a visual pathway
through the rough terrain.
