Over four decades, Armani has remained a byword for clean,
tailored silhouettes and neutral colours. For his most recent
capsule collection, Mr Armani drew inspiration from the
maison’s past advertising imagery, its very name, ‘New
Normal’, echoing his iconic 2016 campaign starring Yasmin Le
Bon, Stella Tennant, Eva Herzigova and Nadja Auermann. ‘I
w a n t e d t o o f f e r p i e c e s t h a t r e i n f o r c e o u r v a l u e s o f e l e g a n c e a n d
dignity,’ he says. The result is a sophisticated line of coats
and jackets in wool and silk, softly draped trousers, and tops
patterned with checks, chevrons and other geometric motifs,
all in a largely monochrome palette. Accessories have also
been updated; one pair of shoes now features a clear PVC heel,
and buckled moccasins have a two-tone twist. ‘This is cloth-
ing for self-aware women who are feminine in unexpected
ways,’ he says. ‘Sleek, fluid and timeless.’ LUCY HALFHEAD
