Black & white landscapes
Monochrome and landscape
photography have been inextricably
linked since the very origins of the
medium, and the advent of digital has
sp arked a resurgence in the creation of
black & white images of the lands around
us. Stripping out the colour in an image
focuses att ention on the fi ner nuances
of the scene or the weather conditions
and adds an extra dose of drama when
the conditions are wild. That’s not to say
that monochrome images always need to
be pushed in terms of contrast ; subtle
renditions of a vist a can be just as
emotive. Make sure you read Lee Frost ’s
insightf ul feature on page 28 about
shooting black & white landscapes and
then send in your most compelling
photographs for a chance to be
published in the June 2018 issue.
To submit your images, head to
outdoorphotographymagazine.co.uk/
submissions. Closing date for entries
is 26 February 2018. See page 70 for
more details and terms and conditions.
