PEARL of WISDOM

Writers of other
published letters will
receive an Australian
Women’s Weekly cookbook.

GOLDEN AGE
I have just finished reading the new series in
AWW called Words of Wisdom, and loved it!
It is an insightful sneak-peek at this fun, peer
pressure-free perspective on life. To see that
nothing but the number of birthday candles
on a cake, wrinkles on skin, a few more
aches and pains and hair colour (or lack of)
is, in essence, the only difference between
the elderly and youth. The glaringly obvious
difference, it seems, is the wisdom and lessons
learned along the way. We can all gain from
this, surely. Having the time to do things that
are important for yourself and to chill out from

the relentless work, home to-do list and juggle
sounds very inviting. I’m looking forward to the
next instalment of this series. I want to learn
how NOT to be put in an “old lady” box when
my retirement begins. I am pretty sure these
type of articles will help me achieve that!
Thanks AWW. Great job. Nicola Bishop

ANNABEL’S AN INSPIRATION
My youngest son has just left home - at 18, it’s
something he needs to do for himself, and I
am excited for him. However, I am also feeling
bereft! It was good to read how Annabel
Langbein has adjusted to this same new
chapter of life. Her experience has made me
feel more positive for my new future.

A GRACIOUS LADY
Lady Pam Lochore showed her love and
empathy for the wide community which Sir
Brian was part of by allowing a wonderful
public tribute to her husband. Thank you Lady
Lochore, as well as your amazing family, for
your grace in sharing Sir Brian not only in his
life but his passing too. Cheryl Cavanagh
