bythechillygusts.Despitebeingnestledintheheartofone
ofLondon’smostancientboroughs,a stone’sthrowfrom
HenryVIII’sopulentHamptonCourtPalace,NewMaldenis a
sprawlofmodest19thcenturyterraces.
Yetlookcloserat theflurryofillegiblestreetsigns,the“Little
Seoul”supermarketsandbulgogi(Koreanbarbecue)restaurants.
Payattentiontothechoristers’accentsastheysingHallelujahand
it becomesapparentthatNewMaldenis notjustanysuburbin
London’sHomeCounties,butthethrivingepicentreofthebiggest
