  withthat,butI’verecentlylearnedthatit’s
  howIusesocialmediathatistheimportant
  thing.I amanavidInstagramuser,notso
  muchinpostingthings,butinfollowing
  othercraftersandrelatedhashtags,like
  #knitstagramand#memadeeveryday.I
  findsomuchcomfortandinspirationin
  connecting with other avid knitters.

OnehashtagI wasfollowingwasthe

#soldotnacropwhichisa bitofa cultknitby

infinitelytalenteddesigner,CaitlinHunter.

InkeepingwithmyNewYear’sresolution

nottobuy(toomuch)newyarn,I raided

mystashandfoundsomelimitededition

DropsLovesYou6recycledcotton.I decided

thatthiswouldbeperfectformycroptop

projectandpickedoutsomeparticularly

autumnalcolours.It cametogethervery

quicklyandI justlovethefinishedproduct.

I’mthankfultosocialmediaforintroducing

this excellent pattern into my library.

A LITTLEBITOFLOVE

I’mawarethattheneedforapprovalon

socialmediacanbedetrimentaltomental

health.Howeverwe’realljustlike-minded

knittingfanaticssupportingeachother

inourhappylittleyarnobsession.WhenI

finishedmyStylecraftcablecardiganearlier

thisyearI shareda triumphantpictureon

socialmediaandit added,justa littlebit,

tothelovely,cuddlyfeelingofwearingthe

cardiganI’dspentsucha long time knitting

and putting together.

week,wasa discoveryoftheMoominx

Novitacollaboration.I follow#Moominon

Instagram(becauseI’ma littlebitobsessed

withMoomins)andwhenI sawthatNovita

andtheMoominfranchisehadrekindled

theircollaboration(originallylaunchedinthe

1970s)beforeI knewwhathadhappenedI’d

bought all three pattern “bookazines”!

IT’SINTHEPOST!

Ina previouscolumnI mentionedthatI wasn’t

buyinganynewpatternsfora whilebutalso

thatit wouldmakeit morespecialwhenI

did,andboywasit specialwhentheMoomin

booksarrived.I tooktheparcelothe

postman,putit ina specialplaceandwaited

untilit wasmyson’snaptime,I mademyself

a coee,satdowninmyfavouritechair,took

a deepbreathandopenedtheparcel.Reader,

I’mnotashamedtosaythatI actuallycried

withhappiness!AsI pouredoverthepattern

booksa feelingofrelaxation,blissfulcomfort

andofgentleexcitementcameoverme,what

I believe one might call a Hygge moment.
