Charity The Donkey
anctuary
Established The Donkey
anctuary was founded
as a charity in 1969 by Dr
Elisabeth Svendsen MBE.
What do you do?
I steward all our wonderful supporters who
fundraise for The Donkey Sanctuary. I’m here
to help with all their needs, from supplying
our donkey knitting and crochet patterns to
fundraising packs. I am always happy to support
people along their fundraising journey. From
knitting and baking, to running or even skydiving,
our fundraisers are fantastic! However, one of
my favourite parts of the job is receiving the
parcels from our crafters, as each one is unique,
special and made with love.
What can we do to help? People can support
The Donkey Sanctuary by knitting Woolley
and crocheting Neddy the donkeys. All the
information needed, plus free patterns, is
available on The Donkey Sanctuary’s website:
http://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/support-us/
get-involved/get-crafty or by contacting the
fundraising team on the number below. The
Woolleys can then be sent to the charity’s
international headquarters in Devon where
they will be distributed to its shops or sold at
fundraising events. The donkeys are sold as
collectables, not toys, and are labelled as such
by The Donkey Sanctuary.
Latest fundraising news The London
Marathon is a big event in our calendar and this
year one of our supporters who specialises in
making character Neddys for our charity, made
some of our runner’s a Neddy wearing a running
vest in Donkey Sanctuary colours, with each
runner’s number embroidered on to their back.
They were a wonderful sight to see all lined up.
Without our fundraisers and supporters we
would not be able to fulfil our vision – to see a
world where donkeys and mules live free from
suering, and their contribution to humanity is
fully valued.
