The iconic Apollo 11 mission inspired generations, defined an

era, and captured the imaginations of people throughout

the country and world. The 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniver-

sary Commemorative Coin Program features beautifully

crafted curved coins that remind us of an optimistic

and inspirational time in our Nation’s history.

The gold, silver, and clad coins in this program share

common designs. The obverse (heads) design fea-

tures a footprint on the lunar surface. The reverse

(tails) design features a representation of a close-up

of the famous “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” photograph

taken July 20, 1969.
