NEIL & PLAY
IN ASSOCIATION
WITH
LEAGUE ONE
IPSWICH claimed top
spot as crisis club Bolton
were pushed closer to
the edge.
The Trotters have
been given until 5pm
tomorrow by the EFL to
sort out a takeover.
If not then a 14-day
countdown to expel them
from the Football League
could be triggered.
James Norwood (2),
Kayden Jackson (2) and
Gwion Edwards made it a
Tractor Boys field day.
SCOTT KASHKET
apologised after stealing
a stoppage-time winner
for Wycombe.
Southend led 2-0 and
3-2 through Brandon
Goodship and Stephen
Humphrys’ double. But
Kashket, who scored
twice, had the last word
after Mark Milligan’s own
goal and an 89th-minute
Anthony Stewart leveller.
He said: “Sorry to
leave it late, but better
late then never.”
JORDAN THOMPSON
reckons Blackpool fans
are still on a high despite
being knocked off top
spot.
The Seasiders wasted
chances but remain
unbeaten – and
Thompson reckoned the
draw wasn’t a setback.
He said: “The fans
have been brilliant.
They’ve probably gone
away happy enough
because the
performance was good.”
SUNDERLAND boss Jack
Ross hailed “enigma”
Chris Maguire for
bagging a hat-trick.
American investors,
who are set to take over
the club, watched the
striker (right) grab his
treble, with Kwesi Appiah
scoring for Wimbledon.
Ross said: “Chris can
be a bit of an enigma at
times but has real quality
about his play.
“And with that quality,
he should always be in
DANNY COWLEY said
Lincoln were denied
potentially game-
changing penalties by
referee Craig Hicks.
Jorge Grant cancelled
out a Rovers opener
from on-loan Wolves
striker Niall Ennis but
sub Jon Taylor went on
to win it for the hosts.
But Imps boss Cowley
said: “There should have
been at least three
penalties in the game.
The ref cost us.”
SKY BLUES keeper
Marko Marosi pulled off
a wonder save after
Gills No.1 Jack Bonham
blundered.
Marosi’s acrobatics
denied Mikael Ndjoli a
late free-kick equaliser.
Bonham let a corner
fly over his head to
allow Dom Hyam to fire
Coventry ahead.
Boss Mark Robins
hailed Marosi. “What a
save,” he said. “It was a
world-class save.”
CHED EVANS scored a
penalty clincher on his
second Fleetwood debut.
The Wales striker
rejoined the Cod Army
on a permanent deal in
the summer and came
on for Paddy Madden,
who had opened the
scoring in the first half.
Evans said: “I took a
few penalties last
season so I just wanted
to carry on from there
and I just had to strike
it well.”
KIERAN O’HARA is
hoping Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer gets to hear
of his first Brewers
clean sheet.
The Irish keeper, 23,
is embarking on his fifth
loan spell away from Old
Trafford. He said: “I’m a
Manchester United
player on loan here until
the end of the season.
“It’s all about
showing everybody here
and at United what I’m
all about.”
ROVERS boss Graham
Coughlan hit out at the
trolls who abused his
daughter on social
media.
Goals from Ed Upson,
Jon Clarke-Harris and
Tom Nichols overturned
Ben Woodhouse’s
Oxford opener.
Coughlan said: “If
you’re going to give me
abuse, give it to me.
“But don’t come
anywhere near my
family.”
MO EISA bagged his
fourth goal in three
games for rampant
Peterborough.
The summer signing
from Bristol City added
to earlier strikes from
Marcus Maddison and
Ivan Toney.
Eisa said: “I’ve got
back to full sharpness
and got goals, hopefully
that continues.”
MK Dons boss Paul
Tisdale added: “It’s a
lesson for us.”

Wimbledon with just one
point from the opening
five games.
Boss Wally Downes said:
“We have to make sure
that we stick together
during this bad patch. It’s
been a tough run of
games.
“But I’ve seen good play
from us and now it’s about
moving on, coming
through it, and marching
on for the rest of the
season.”
Boss Harris: In the
summer we spent..
it can pay off now
BY CLIVE HETHERINGTON
NEIL HARRIS predicts better
things for his Millwall side –
and Jonathan Woodgate’s
Middlesbrough, too.
The Lions boss sees similarities
between the two outfits and there
was certainly nothing to separate
them at the Riverside.
The rival managers (before the
match, below), who argued they
were both denied two “blatant’’
penalties, had to settle for parity.
Harris carried out a major over-
haul of his squad this summer and
Woodgate is starting from scratch
in his maiden managerial role.
Millwall recovered from a 4-0
midweek mauling at Fulham in
what Harris maintains is a
respectable start to the
season after escaping
relegation last term.
Harris, red-
carded by referee
John Brooks close
to half-time after a
touchline tussle
for the ball with
Boro first-team
coach Leo Percovich, said: “I’m
pleased, eight points from five
games and they’ve been difficult
games as well.
“To go to Fulham, who were very
good the other night, and West
Brom and to come here – which I
know is a work in progress, but still
a very talented squad – it’s a good
return for us.
“We have a long
way to go, we’re
probably similar to
Middlesbrough and
Jonathan, and the
international break
will be a good
chance to work on a
few things. I expect
us to be better after September.
“As a club, we’ve never really had
good starts but finished really
strongly, and I’ve no idea why, but
we’ve started well this time and we
want to maintain it.
“Recruitment is key and it can’t
be done in one window, you need
two or three. I had a core
who came in, so every
player now is my
player after four
years.
“I let players go
because we had to
freshen it up and
brought in players
specifically for how
I want to play. We’ll get better and
it’s the same for Jonathan who
needs time, too.
“We’re not looking at the
play-offs. Being better than last
season is our only target. We were
fourth bottom with 44 points. In
the summer, we invested a couple
of million pounds, which was huge,
and hopefully we’ll
see the rewards.’’
Sub Tom Bradshaw
salvaged a point for
Millwall in the 76th
minute.
Midfielder Paddy
McNair grabbed his
first goal for Boro six
minutes earlier to
open the scoring and
right-back Jonny Howson said: “Up
to now, we’ve generally done better
in the first half.
“This time, it was the second 45.
If we can knit it all together, we
might see what this team is
capable of.’’
