Living The Photo Artistic Life – August 2019

(Sean Pound) #1
Not so quickly. Not so quickly.

As you øip through the pages of this issue
and admire the extraordinary artwork by the
artists of our “AWAKE” group — go slowly...
Linger a little.

At least on the ones that capture your fancy.

AAnd with these, rather than simply admiring
them, I’d like you to pause ... and see if you
can slip into the story within the image.

Now, not every piece here will spark such
musings, but open yourself to the idea and
I think you’ll önd some that will.

AAnd to slip into the stories captured here, all
you need to do is ask yourself a simple ques-
tion: “What happens next?”

Ask yourself this ... and let your imagination
run free.

Perhaps think of it this way: Were this a
frame in a ölm, frozen and held up to view,
what might happen if you started the ölm up
again and let it continue to play?

Will someone (or something) unexpected
enter the scene? What happens then, or
where might the ölm jump to next?

IIn a way, approaching art with this kind of
imaginative involvement makes you a partici-
pant in creation, not just a casual viewer.

There are worlds here for you to discover, and
you have the power to öll them out. So linger
a bit and explore them. Dream a little.

Dream over the images that capture your
attention most, turn them over to your imagi-
nation, and your experience of the artwork
will be so much the richer.
