Toyotafest Turns 24
PHOTOS Rodrez
Everybody knows Toyotafest...it’s open
to any vehicle with the classic emblem
emblazoned on its body. The Toyota
Owners and Restorers Club hosted its
24 th show (that’s older than some of
you!), and this year’s event once again
took place at Marina Green Park in
Long Beach, California. More than 500
registered vehicles were parked and
arranged by model or genre with their
own personal patch of grass. An endless
row of reputable shops and vendors
shared a parking lot with more food
trucks than you can shake a stick at. It
was another Toyotafest to remember,
and we’ll be back again next year to
celebrate the event’s quarter-of-a-
century birthday. toyotaclub.org
GRIDLIFE = GOOD TIMES!
PHOTOS Luke Munnell
Six years after Gridlife founders decided to add its growing music festival
recipe to its Midwest project, the event has continued to grow on all fronts,
bringing usually overlooked Midwesterners contemporary music, “almost”
rules-free camping, and nonstop partying over the course of three days...
with, of course, pro-level
time attack, bash-style
drifting, and HPDE track
events going on at the same
time. And, for the first time
ever, Gridlife Midwest at
GingerMan Raceway held
a genuine wheel-to-wheel
battle (how cool is that?!).
However, drifting continues
to be Gridlife’s single most
popular feature. And for good reason: You probably won’t find a better
mix of drivers, cars, or laid-back vibes anywhere, with a number of teams
making the long haul from opposite sides of the country. This year’s
headliners included pro drivers Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Dai Yoshihara, plus
time-attack ace Tom O’Gorman. Overall, this year’s Gridlife was a success,
and we can already assure you its Atlanta Music & Motorsports Festival
will be just as awesome. grid.life
