The New Supra and More Stop by Our

Annual Japanese Car Cruise-In
PHOTOS Jonathan Carrasco
The 4th annual Japanese Car Cruise-In kicked off this year in the heart of
Los Angeles. The collaboration between Super Street and the Petersen
Automotive Museum went off without a hitch due to pre-registration for
a few hundred reserved spots in the parking garage. As with nearly any
outdoor event, the week leading up to the main event was threatened
with rain, but the day of (with the exception of an early morning
sprinkle) yielded decent overcast weather. Bring-a-Trailer, Haggerty, and
local Toyota dealer giant Longo Toyota were on hand, the latter of which
brought the new 2020 Supra, which was surrounded by many of its older
siblings. And, in case you were wondering, yes, this was the first public
showing of the new Supra in California. petersen.org

NO “WEAK” IN WEKFEST
PHOTOS David Ishikawa
The infamously “picky” Wekfest show
series started its 2019 season returning
to Portmesse, Nayoga, for its mega Japan
show, giving us a reminder of why it’s the
gold standard in organized car events. The
top-notch quality relies heavily on Wekfest’s
strict registration procedure and decision-
making, a quality with its merits, yes, but its
criticisms, too. Most criticisms take place on
the unofficial social media review board, but
even those dissenters can’t argue with the
results. Below the “average” surface of widebody conversions
and clean engine swaps, inherent attention to detail casts a
gleam of professionalism over the showroom. Nobody really
knows when Wekfest hit its stride, but it’s currently on the
forefront of high-end car shows. We know it’s here to stay—
and we can count on it to find our next feature cars,
especially in Japan. wekfest-usa.com
