BURY BOOTED OUT

MANCHESTER UNITED have
agreed to send Alexis Sanchez
on loan to Inter Milan.
The Italians will pay around
£4.5million of the Chile
forward’s £21m annual salary,
though there is no agreement
to make the deal permanent.
Sanchez is due in Milan today to
complete a medical and team
up with former Old Trafford
teammate Romelu Lukaku.
His temporary departure ends a
nightmare chapter in the 30-
year-old’s career. Sanchez
snubbed a move to Premier
League champions Manchester
City for a more lucrative
contract with United in January
2018 in a swap deal that saw
Henrikh Mkhitaryan join
Arsenal.
However, Sanchez has struggled
to make an impact under either
Jose Mourinho or Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer, scoring five goals in 45
appearances while earning
around £400,000 a week.

Bury were last night
expelled from the Foot-
ball League after 134
years, as the EFL board
decided time was up for
the League One crisis
club.
With only minutes to go
before the League One club
hit a 5pm deadline, a number
of apparently interested par-
ties suddenly stepped for-
ward. But six hours later, the

EFL issued a statement
confirming the expulsion.
It said: ‘The EFL board met
earlier this evening and, after a

long and detailed discussion,
determined that Bury’s mem-
bership of the English Football
League be withdrawn after the

deadline passed at 5pm today
without successful resolution.’
The end had appeared nigh
for Bury when it emerged that
a takeover by C&N Sporting
risk had fallen through 90
minutes before yesterday’s
EFL-set deadline. The group
pulled the plug after saying it
needed more time.
The other north-west crisis
club, Bolton Wanderers, were
given a 14-day reprieve to
clinch a deal with a new buyer.
But at Bury, with the clock
ticking, as many as seven bids

Jimmy’s back

for England

Mail, Wednesday, August 28, 20

JIMMY ANDERSON will be
included in England’s
fourth Test squad after
coming through an
extensive workout for
Lancashire 2nd XI
yesterday (right).
The addition of England’s
record wicket-taker is
likely to be the only
change for Old Trafford,
meaning out-of-touch
batsmen Jason Roy and
Jos Buttler are retained.
Roy looks set to drop to
No 4 while Joe Denly will
open. Anderson took one
for 38 off 20 overs against
Durham and — as long as
there is no reaction — is in
line to win his 150th cap at
his home ground.
