HOLLISTER, CA – Markus
Broecker (R) successfully completed
his Private Pilot – Glider checkride
with Examiner Dan Gudgel (L) on
May 3, 2019.  Markus previously flew
gliders in Switzerland and earned his
gliding certification last October just
prior to moving to the Bay Area. He
is looking forward to taking advantage
of California’s year-round gliding sea-
son with Hollister’s Bay Area Soaring
Associates glider club.

HOLLISTER, CA – Thanh Nguy-
en (R) recently passed his Glider add-
on checkride with DPE Dan Gudgel
(L) at the Hollister Soaring Center on
May 8, 2019. Thanh holds a single-en-
gine certificate and is looking forward
to the new challenges of soaring. Con-
gratulations, Thanh!

2019. Joel is already a single-engine
      CFI and he recently retired as an air
      traffic controller. Nicely done, Joel!

LAkE ELSINORE, CA– The

Lake Elsinore Soaring Club would

like to congratulate Ryan Hingst (R)

for soloing on his 14th birthday! Ryan

soloed in a Schweizer 2-33A on June

12, 2019 at Skylark Field. Ryan is

shown with his very proud mother,

Michelle Hingst (L). Ryan plans to

complete his Private Pilot checkride

on his 16th birthday and would even-

tually like to become an airline pilot.

WARNER SPRINGS, CA – Col-

lin Shea (R) completed his Commer-

cial – Glider on May 20, 2019, and his

CFI-G May 31, 2019 at Sky Sailing,

with the help of the Willat Family for

checkride prep and Orion Kingman,

DPE (L). Collin will be working as

a ride-giver and flight instructor for

the summer at Sky Sailing. Another

thanks to his Texas Soaring Associa-

tion Instructors, John Hardy and John

Latson, for getting him to this point.

WILLIAMS, CA – Congratula-

tions to Manuel Ortiz (R) on his first

solo glider flight taken on May 12,

2019. Manuel, a rated pilot, is working
      towards his Glider add-on rating. He
