Ford Explorer

The Explorer has been completely redesigned for 2020, shifting from
a dated front-drive platform to a rear-drive configuration. The base
engine is a 300-hp, 2.3-liter turbo four, with the top offering being a
365-hp, 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. Maximum tow capacity edges up to
5,600 lbs. A hybrid will also be offered. The elegantly simple interior
features an all-digital instrument cluster and an iPad-like center
touch screen. The three-row SUV comes with WiFi and has abundant
USB charge ports for the family. The cargo space is capable of accom-
modating four-foot wide sheets of building material. A power liftgate
is standard. The Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite of advanced safety systems is
standard, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency
braking with pedestrian detection, and blind spot warning.

Ford Expedition

The Expedition is a huge SUV with modern convenience and
available safety features. The 3.5-liter, turbocharged V6 engine
is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and provides effort-
less motivation. We got 16 mpg overall, which is on a par with this
class. Handling is rather ungainly, and the ride is a bit stiff. The
cabin is quiet, and the third-row seat is truly suitable for adults. The
second- and third-row seats can be folded f lat with the push of a but-
ton, creating an enormous cargo area. The controls are easy to use,
including the rotary knob gear selector. Available safety features
include automatic braking, lane keeping assist, and blind spot moni-
tors that can see all the way to a trailer’s f lanks. The extended-length
version is called Max.
