WORSE BETTERNissan Versa
The Nissan Versa has historically been one of the most affordable
new cars on the market. Redesigned for 2020, the subcompact sedan
gets best-in-class standard safety features. Lower, longer, and wider
than its predecessor, the new Versa is visually distinguished by
Altima-like styling cues. Its 1.6-liter four cylinder engine is now up to
122 hp, and transmission choices carry over from 2019. Push-button
start is standard, while automatic climate control, Android Auto, and
Apple CarPlay are optional. We hope that Nissan remedies some of
the issues with the outgoing Versa, including a cheap-feeling interior,
noisy cabin, lousy handling, and a Poor rating in the IIHS’ small-
overlap crash test. The redesigned Versa goes on sale summer 2019.Overall Score NA

Nissan Titan
The regular Titan is more pleasant to drive than the Titan XD (Extra
Duty), which has a stiff ride and clumsy handling, similar to a heavy-
duty pickup. The light-duty Titan comes with a smooth and punchy
5.6-liter V8 that is mated to a slick and responsive seven-speed auto-
matic transmission, and the XD also offers a V8 Cummins diesel.
The ride is more tolerable than the XD’s, and handling is less clumsy.
The roomy cabin has a variety of handy storage places, and the rear
tailgate is damped, which is a nice touch. A suite of safety and driver
assist systems are offered, including blind spot warning and moving-
object detection. When properly equipped, the Titan can tow more
than 9,000 pounds. The XD can tow 12,000 pounds, and its payload
capacity is 2,000 pounds. It also has a built-in goose-neck trailer
