Cadillac XT6

The XT6 is Cadillac’s belated three-row luxury midsize SUV. There’s
only one engine and transmission choice: a 310-hp, 3.6-liter V6 which
is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. That powertrain
proved smooth and powerful in other related General Motors SUVs
we’ve tested. All-wheel drive is optional; front-wheel drive comes
standard. The infotainment system is similar to the one in the XT4
and presents an improvement over previous Cadillac systems. The
XT6 comes with generous standard advanced safety technologies,
including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking
with pedestrian detection, and blind spot warning. Optional features
include rear pedestrian warning, reverse automatic emergency brak-
ing, and a rear camera mirror similar to the one found in the XT5.

Cadillac XT5

Cadillac’s XT5 luxury SUV is neither as sporty to drive as the German
competitors nor as pampering as a Lexus RX. It’s powered by either
a 3.6-liter V6 engine or a new 2.0-liter turbo four. Both are linked to a
nine-speed automatic. With the V6, the XT5 seems lethargic in every-
day driving, despite posting decent outright acceleration in our tests.
The XT5 handles soundly, though the ride is too stiff for a luxury
SUV. The active damping suspension that comes on top-trim versions
improves matters a bit. Comfortable front seats, good fit and finish
and a quiet cabin lend the XT5 a luxurious aura. Automatic emergen-
cy braking and front collision warning became standard for 2020.
