Iowa Allows Hunters
To Mark Organ-Donor
Status on Licenses
Iowa outdoorsmen and women will have the choice to place an
organ donor sticker on their hunting and fishing licenses under
a new law signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.
The new law, nicknamed “Logan’s Law,” was named after
-year-old Logan Luft, of Charles City, who died in in
an accident.
The new law requires the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources to include organ donor information in hunter safety
courses, as well as provide the designation of organ donor on
hunting and fishing license applications. Anyone between
and may check an organ donor box with a parent’s signature.
Logan Luft, who loved hunting and fishing, was an organ
donor, and his family credits his decision with saving the lives
of five people who received Logan’s organs. Logan’s dad, Leon-
ard Luft, and other relatives sought the bill in his memory after
noticing organ donor stickers on hunting and fishing licenses
