To create a design yourself takes only a few
supplies and some basic instruction. Or if you
like the look of embroidery but lack the desire
to work a needle and thread, you can find
an array of finished designs—from simple
silhouettes to elaborate patterns with a modern
spin—through online marketplaces. However
you approach embroidery, its variety and beauty
show in the steady forging of each stitch.

SUPPLIES FOR EVERY STAGE


To get started, gather fabric, an embroidery hoop, embroidery
needles, embroidery thread (also known as floss), and scissors.
Or you can purchase a starter kit with everything included.
As your skills improve, you’ll figure out your own style, which you
can continue to develop as you tap into the variety of materials,
hoops, colors, and patterns there are to choose from. Here are
