Concealed Carry Handguns – August 2019

cartridges. Mine has a warning on the
ejector shroud that loads with bullets
weighing less than 120-grains should
not be used. Presumably, this is so the
bullets don’t jump their crimp and jam
the cylinder.

I have fi red perhaps 150 rounds through
my 360PD and the experience has not
been pleasant. While shooting the four
snub .357 Magnums I’ve covered for
this article, I put fi ve rounds each of four
different loads through my 360PD. My
hand was dripping blood at the end of
that ordeal.

I should note, however, I had already
fi red 15 rounds each through the Taurus
605, the Charter Arms Mag Pug and the
Ruger LCR .357 Magnum prior to fi ring
the 360PD. The Taurus, at 24 ounces,
is more than twice the weight of the
360PD, which makes it easier to shoot
and harder to carry in a pocket. The Mag
Pug at 23 ounces has more weight to
absorb recoil as well.

The LCR, at 17.1 ounces, splits the differ-
ence on recoil versus weight. Its Hogue
“Tamer” Monogrip does help counter
recoil. Also in its favor, the hammer is
shrouded for cleaner draw from a pock-
et. Its double-action pull is quite good,
which aids accuracy.

The S&W Model 19
Carry Comp con-
trols muzzle lip bet-
ter because of its
port in front of the
front sight. It comes
with a choice of
fancy wooden grips
or rubber grips. For
magnum loads, the
rubber grips are
preferable.

The 3-inch MR73’s
shorter barrel lets
it conceal better
beneath a shorter
jacket.
