stainless-steel body and is designed
to drop free upon the operation of the
magazine release button. Unfortunate-
ly, Glock 17 magazines will not work in
the STR-9.

I found the trigger pull to be a bit on
the heavy side at eight pounds, but
the feel was on a par with most Glock
17 triggers. The face of the trigger
shoe is tapered on both sides rather
than fl at and serrations provide a se-
cure grip. The blade safety retracts fully
into the face of the trigger shoe.

The overall workmanship on the STR-9
was very good. I found no inappropri-
ate machining marks and the fi t and
fi nish of all surfaces was excellent.

STR-9 MODELS
All current versions of the STR-9 are
full-size and are chambered for the
9x19 Parabellum cartridge. The base
STR-9 model comes with one maga-
zine and one backstrap. The next step

that the extended use of that type of
ammunition may decrease the service
life expectancy of the gun. Stoeger
does, however, prohibit the use of
“sub-machine gun ammunition” in
the STR-9.
