Concealed Carry Handguns – August 2019

(lu) #1
Two steel alloy
10-round drop-free
magazines with
lush-it baseplates
are supplied
with the pistol. A
supplied inger grip
extension has been
installed on the
magazine on the
left. Witness holes
show even round
counts on the right
side and odd round
counts on the left
side.

The trigger pull of the Security-9
Compact pistol used for this evaluation
averaged 4 pounds, 1.3 ounces for
10 consecutive pulls, using a digital
Lyman Trigger Pull Gauge. I found
the trigger pull to have a feel that is
comparable with many striker-fi red
pistols, only about a pound lighter in
pull weight than most. I did fi nd that
trigger reset was a bit longer than I
prefer, but it was not objectionable
and it is both tactile and audible.

Both front and rear cocking serrations
are milled into the sides of the slide.
These serrations are deep enough
to allow a good grip on the slide but
without any sharp edges. Sights are
steel and use a single white dot in
front and a white outline in the rear.
Both sights are dovetailed into the
slide. The rear sight is drift adjustable
and is locked in place using a socket
head cap screw.

The matte black glass-fi lled nylon
frame has adequate but not too
aggressive texturing to allow for a
secure grip. A 1913 Mil-Std rail with
three cross slots is molded into the
dust cover. The magazine release is
reversible for left-handed shooters.

HOLSTER UP
A number of holster options are
available. Ruger offers multiple IWB
and OWB holsters in leather and Kydex
