Toronto’s biggest road race has been
Canadian marathoning’s crème de la crème
for years, likely due to its iaaf Gold Label
classification. The Scotiabank Toronto
Waterfront Marathon has also served as
Canada’s national championship since 2015.
Race director Alan Brookes has done justice
to the image he conceived over 15 years ago.
“From day one, stwm has been a strategic
effort to raise the overall bar for racing in
Canada,” says Brookes. The result? stwm
now boasts Canada’s widest network of
employees and volunteers of any Canadian
marathon, with a world-class race expo and
a fast, f lat course.

running for years, but it’s not
just another professionally run
marathon anymore – and hasn’t
been for some time. It’s where
Cam Levins chose to stage his
debut in 2018, where he broke
Jerome Drayton’s 43-year-old
national marathon record. It’s
also where charity runners find
a great platform to raise money
and awareness, and in some
cases, a shot at a Guinness World
Records (gwr).
