anquish Yachts recently presented the VQ40, 12.5-mtre composite craft that
promises a huge amount. Buoyed by the success of its VQ16 water scooter, the
Dutch yard, which is renowned for is aluminium boats, decided to use composites
for its larger hulls because production times are shorter. The VQ40’s hull was designed
by the New Zealand studio Bakerwell-White Yacht Design, which has a reputation for
high performance designs, while the waterlines are the work of the ever-reliable Guido
de Groot who started out in car design. In fact, the VQ40 is aimed fair and square at
sports car lovers, not just because of its superb performance and handling but also its
sleek design and fast cornering. The standard engine set-up spans twin 320 hp Volvo
D4s which deliver 40 knots. But the choice of power unit types and combinations is
vast, going all the way to the triple engine layout of the Fast version of the VQ40 which

yacht designer olandese che ha cominciato
la sua carriera nel mondo del car design.
E proprio gli amanti delle auto sportive
sono il pubblico di riferimento cui questo
scafo si rivolge, non solo per le prestazioni
e la manovrabilità, ma anche per il suo
design filante e il suo assetto di guida. La
motorizzazione standard prevede due Volvo
D4 da 320hp che spingono lo scafo fino
a 40 nodi, ma le opzioni sono moltissime
e arrivano fino alla tripletta di propulsori
della versione Veloce del VQ40 che possono
lanciare la barca a oltre 54 nodi.
