GETAWAY GOALS
I’m planning my first trip to New
York City later this year and can’t
wait to check out some of the sug-
gestions from “New York State of
Mindful”— especially the restau-
rants. Sampling the local food is
one of my favourite things to do
when travelling. Thanks for the
recommendations!

SPICE OF LIFE
I love many of Best Health’s a r t i-
cles, but the article in the June/
July issue about turmeric was
most intriguing to me. I’ve
recently been looking into this
amazing spice more and, for one
thing, I never thought to add some
to my morning smoothie. A quar-
ter teaspoon and you can’t even
taste it. Adding turmeric to my
grilling sauces, who knew! This
article was perfect timing for me.
Thanks Best Health!

HEADS UP
Your (Canadian!) magazine is a
breath of fresh air in a world of
U.S.-based “health” magazines
that seem to feature more “not
evaluated by the FDA” medication
advertisements than actual arti-
cles! I especially loved your June/
July issue article “Head First”
about mental health first aid. As a
high school teacher who has had
the opportunity to take this course
(focusing on adults who interact
with youth), this issue is more
prevalent than ever. Everyone and
anyone who deals with the public
in any way, shape or form should

take this course. The “Mind over
Matter: Managing Stress” article
also had some fantastic points that
I plan to incorporate into some
lessons for my students next year.
Thanks again for such great and
relevant information. I highly rec-
ommend your magazine to all my
friends and family!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
With respect to the June/July
issue, I was particularly engrossed
by “Running on Empty.” It was
immensely helpful – I saw sce-
narios that were pertinent to my
life and allowed me to reset. The
article “Head First” also struck a
chord; I recently completed a men-
tal health first aid course and this
article just reminded me how inte-
gral mental wellness is to our over-
all health. It has changed my out-
look and attitude on mental health
and made me a more empathetic
and less judgmental person.

TIP TOP
I really like all the practical tips
and information in Best Health.
Many are so simple and easy to
implement. Thank you.
