Detective actor, 46, and an

ex, in which he appears to

f ly into a rage. “He’s very harsh in the

texts,” says a source with knowledge

of the pair’s recent brief relationship.

“If she didn’t respond to one of his

texts, he’d follow up with a string of

crazy messages.” In one, he writes,

“U are hopeless.” In another, he rails,

“Yur all over the place...train-wreck

city.” Stephen would treat her like this

“a lot,” says the source, adding that the

former couple dated for a few months

until the ex couldn’t take it anymore.

Beverly Hills–based psychologist

Dr. Julie Armstrong, who has not

treated Stephen or his ex, calls the

texts “abusive and devaluing. He

seems to be trying to manipulate her

emotions to manage her behavior.

He’s being controlling, dominant and

hostile to feel OK in the relationship.

If she had stayed with him, this

could have been a very abusive and

dysfunctional relationship.”
