For us in Montana, it’s door-
hunting season. Until we find our
door, there’s plenty to do without
skipping out of sequence. Once
again, kind of like last time, our shop
manual and Brothers catalog will be
invaluable tools. They’ll help us avoid
redoing things—providing we’ll refer
to them at the right time. For now,
let’s have a look at this cowl and deal
with the damage.
15 Here’s
the new
stuff.
Straight from
Brothers
there
shouldn’t
be anything
mixed up.
Still, it would
be nice to
have original
stuff for a
comparison.
16 The
project was
disassembled
years ago, but
it wasn’t just
scattered. Here
thoughtful
inventorying
pays off. With
questions
answered, we
can now bolt
the cab down
correctly.
17 According to our shop manual, there
should be 17 ⁄ 8 -inch clearance between
the side member and floor panel. That’s
what we’ve got when the nut feels tight,
so these new mounts are quite precise.
18 Now, with the cab held securely to
the best available fixture, we can resume
with the heavy hammering. The left cowl
pillar is a bit (maybe two bits) twisted
toward the inside. Here the ol’ Morgan
Nokker is useful for that.
