was installed and we checked the
adjustable timing pointer to make
sure we were dead on. On a Ford
like ours that is a non-roller block,
the Edelbrock Retro-Fit roller lifters
have to go on before the cylinder
heads, so we lubed them up and
slid them in.
The Performer RPM aluminum
cylinder heads were much lighter
and easier to install than the cast-
iron lumps that we took off. Using
the Edelbrock head gaskets and
supplied chromoly head bolts we
installed the heads and torqued
them in three steps to a final torque
of 75 lb-ft. The chromoly pushrods
were next followed by the red roller
rockers, which are works of art; it
seems a shame to cover them up.
We set the lash to 0 plus a half
turn per the instructions and locked
them down.
When we got the truck, it had a
no-name Chinese intake manifold
that was leaking oil from the
rear, so we decided to go with the
Edelbrock Performer Air Gap in
black finish. After installing the
manifold we topped it off with one
of Edelbrock’s New AVS2 Performer
carburetors. We have been a big01 With all the new

by lubing up the new
Edelbrock Hydraulic Roller
Cam with the included
assembly lube and slid it
in the motor.
